Register for Ignite Ballet Collective 2026/2027 Season

Dancers should be 7-18 years old as of August 2025. Dancers younger than 7 years old are welcome to audition, but are not guaranteed placement in the company.

Dancers of any experience level are encouraged to audition, and they are placed in groups based on skill level rather than age. The company comprises three levels: Beginner, Intermediate and Advanced.

Dancers' rehearsal and performance opportunities vary based on their level within the company. Regardless of level, all company members are guaranteed a minimum of four performance opportunities per school year.

Rehearsals occur once or twice a week, contingent upon the company level, with the possibility of extra rehearsals being scheduled closer to performances. Our company session starts in September and ends in May.

The performance fee for each session (September to May) is a $200 maximum, with a maximum costume fee of $150 per session. Costume expenses can be reduced if we opt to rent instead of purchasing, ensuring we always select the most cost-effective approach for outfitting our ballets.

Throughout company classes and rehearsals, dancers are under continuous supervision. Our instructors are CPR and first aid certified, and they undergo NC state background checks, ensuring the utmost safety for our dancers. Safety is of paramount importance to us.

Each year, we present both a winter and spring performance for our company, along with numerous community performances held at venues like Southwark Mall and senior centers. Additionally, select company members will receive invitations to train for and dance at events like YAGP and other prestigious ballet competitions.

Casting is overseen by company instructors and guest instructors. Various factors, including class and rehearsal attendance, work ethic, attitude, overall class approach, as well as skill and technique, are taken into consideration when determining casting for the spring show.

Please note that instructors may not have the time to fully address your inquiries if approached before or after your dancer's class or rehearsal.

Female dancers are required to wear a leotard and tights to every class/rehearsal, with tights in pink or skin tone matching their ballet and/or pointe shoes. Skirts, if worn, should fall well above the knee. Hair should be worn in a secure ballet bun for every class. Depending on their role, some dancers may need to purchase practice tutus. Male dancers should wear black ballet shoes and tights/leggings with any color t-shirt. Depending on their role in the show, some male dancers may be asked to purchase white tights and white ballet shoes. All dancers should wear appropriate non-visible undergarments as needed.
